Upcoming Road Changes to Harper's Farm Road

The southbound roadway of Harper's Farm Road heading towards the Twin Rivers Rd intersection from the Village Center will be rebuilt with an improved slope.  The alignment of the roadway will remain where it is today so that the grass median and trees on the median will not be disturbed.

The curb and gutter on the left side (next to the grass median) will be replaced with new 7” tall concrete curb and gutter.  Then, the road will be paved and contoured to provide a 2% slope draining towards the grass median.

Sloping the road this way will provide better traction for vehicles as they navigate the curve.  The transition between the existing and proposed 2% slope will occur gradually over a distance prior to and after the curve so that drivers are able to adjust to the road condition.

Included in the project is the lengthening of the existing left turn pocket on southbound Harper's Farm Rd at the Twin Rivers Rd intersection.   For more information, contact Diane Schwarzman with Howard County Highways at 410-313-2430.
